Ingredients

  • 24 Kings Hawaiian Rolls (2 12-pack packages)
  • 24 meatballs (frozen or fresh)
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter (softened)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/4 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375˚F.
  2. Step 2: Combine the softened butter, parsley, dried basil, dried thyme, kosher salt, garlic paste, and red pepper flakes in a bowl to make the garlic butter. Mix well.
  3. Step 3: Arrange the Hawaiian rolls snugly in a 9×13-inch baking pan. Using a serrated knife, carefully cut a hole out of the middle of each roll, creating space for the filling.
  4. Step 4: Brush the tops of the rolls and inside the holes evenly with the garlic butter mixture. Bake the rolls for 6-8 minutes until the butter melts and the rolls toast slightly, then remove from the oven.
  5. Step 5: Mix the mozzarella and parmesan cheese together. Spoon half of the cheese mixture into each hole of the rolls. Place one meatball on top of the cheese in each hole, then add a dollop of marinara sauce on each meatball. Sprinkle the remaining cheese mixture over the tops of the sliders.
  6. Step 6: Return the pan to the oven and bake the sliders for 20-25 minutes, or until the meatballs are heated through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Tips & Variations

  • Use fresh meatballs for the best flavor, or try vegetarian meatballs for a meat-free option.
  • Add a sprinkle of red pepper flakes on top for extra heat if you like spice.
  • Fresh basil can be used instead of dried for a brighter herb flavor.
  • Serve with extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping.

Storage

Store leftover sliders in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in a preheated oven at 350˚F for 10-15 minutes until warmed through, or microwave individually for 1-2 minutes. Avoid sogginess by reheating in the oven when possible.

How to Serve

Serve this delicious recipe with your favorite sides.

FAQs

Can I use different rolls besides Hawaiian rolls?

Yes, you can substitute with any soft sandwich rolls or small buns, but Hawaiian rolls add a unique sweetness that pairs well with the savory meatballs and cheese.

Are these sliders freezer-friendly?

You can freeze the assembled sliders before baking by covering the pan tightly with foil and plastic wrap. Bake directly from frozen, adding extra baking time until heated through and cheese is melted.
