Air Fryer Rice Paper Rolls with Pork and Vegetables Recipe
Introduction
Air Fryer Rice Paper Rolls are a delicious and healthier take on traditional fried spring rolls. Crispy on the outside and packed with a flavorful pork and vegetable filling, they make a perfect snack or appetizer that’s easy to prepare with your air fryer.

Ingredients
- 300 g pork mince
- 1 white onion, finely sliced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 inch ginger, minced
- 1/4 cabbage, finely chopped
- 2 carrots, finely sliced into 1 inch batons
- 2 sticks celery, finely sliced into 1 inch batons
- 100 g shiitake mushrooms, finely sliced
- 1 tbsp light soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 16 rice paper wrappers
- 2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Step 1: Heat a large frying pan, skillet, or wok over medium-high heat. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and add the sliced onions. Fry for a couple of minutes, stirring frequently.
- Step 2: Add the pork mince and break it apart with a spatula. Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until any excess liquid evaporates and the pork begins to brown.
- Step 3: Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, frying for another minute. Then add the carrots, cabbage, and mushrooms. Cook for 2 minutes before adding the celery.
- Step 4: Pour in the soy sauce, sesame oil, and oyster sauce. Stir-fry everything for 2 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning with extra sauces, salt, or pepper if needed. The vegetables should remain slightly crunchy. Transfer the filling to a large plate and chill in the fridge for 10 minutes.
- Step 5: Prepare the rice paper wrappers by dipping one into a large bowl of warm water for a few seconds until it softens and becomes slightly sticky. Remove and place on a clean board. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the cooled filling about 2 inches from the base of the wrapper.
- Step 6: Fold the base of the wrapper over the filling, then fold in the sides tightly to keep the filling firm. Roll the wrapper tightly to form a roll. Wrap each roll in a second rice paper wrapper to prevent breaking while air frying. Repeat for all rolls.
- Step 7: Place the rolls in your air fryer basket without touching. Cook at 200°C (390°F) for 10 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning. Serve hot with sweet chilli sauce and enjoy!
Tips & Variations
- If you prefer a vegetarian version, substitute pork with finely diced tofu or extra mushrooms.
- For extra crispiness, lightly spray the rolls with oil before air frying.
- Try adding fresh herbs like cilantro or mint to the filling for a fresh twist.
- If your rice paper wrappers tear easily, soak them briefly and handle gently.
Storage
Store any leftover rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To reheat, warm them in the air fryer at 180°C (350°F) for 3-5 minutes to restore crispiness. Avoid microwaving as it can make the rolls soggy.

FAQs
Can I use fresh rice paper wrappers instead of dried ones?
Rice paper wrappers typically come dried and require soaking in warm water to soften before use. Fresh wrappers are uncommon; using dried wrappers that are properly soaked will yield the best results.
How do I prevent the rice paper rolls from sticking together in the air fryer?
Wrapping each roll with a second rice paper wrapper helps hold them together during cooking. Also, placing them with some space in the air fryer basket prevents sticking.
